57 Things Thursday….

Nahh, just kidding. I don’t think I have 57 things to share, but maybe?

1) Today I passed my NCE (National Counselor Exam)!! Hallelujah! This is a big deal!! I have been putting this thing off for a while then when I finally registered for it I ended up rescheduling it. Then on the rescheduled date it got cancelled because of snow and ice. So this has been hanging over my head like a stupid anvil for WAY too long and today I passed!

2). I am drowning in a sea of wild training plans!! Holy moly! Half Iron training is ridiculous! I work on my plan then have to start over. Part of the problem is that I have a half marathon in March. I would like to do well, like PR (<1:55). But I don’t think I have the time to commit to that sort of PR training with all the swimming and biking that I must do as well. So I am trying to finagle it so that I can do my 5 or 6 days a week of running and speed work plus the bike/swim. But I know this could be trouble. Over training and injury are serious possibilities right now. I don’t want to risk that.

3). With my test being today I took the day off from training. Oh wait, no I didn’t. I spent 15 min sitting on my bike in the door way practicing putting my feet in and taking them out of my clip-in peddles. Oh man, what a work out. I was sweating like a hog. Ok, total exaggeration, I didn’t even get winded.

4). The shake weight rocks. No really. Dec. 29th was my friend Christina’s birthday. So naturally when she came over on New Year’s Eve I had to present her with a birthday present and this is what she got:

It is a strange piece of equipment and kind of weird and humiliating to purchase, but lemme tell you…OUCH! I did it for one minute and my arms were burning. I am considering getting one for myself!

5). Passing a HUGE exam compelled The Hubs to make dinner!! Score!

6). Swimming makes my skin itchy and tight.

7). My hair is always, ALWAYS greasy! What is up with that? I try to not wash it so often but it just gets worse and worse. I washed it after my swim on Tuesday and today, it looks like a stinking grease ball. What helps this stupid problem? What can be done!?

8). The names for my beautiful bike are entertaining. I thought of a name today that I really, reallllly like. I hope someone suggests it so they can win! But that doesn’t mean I wont like one of the suggested names better. Want a chance to win some Yurbuds or a 50% off coupon to Optic Nerve? Click HERE and help me name my bike!

Not quite 57 things, what do you have to randomly share on this fine Thursday?

  1. How did you choose your bike? I am researching them now and need all the help I can get.

  2. Congratulations on passing your NCE! Thanks for talking about the shake weight. I would love to see a full review on one if you purchase it.

  3. Congratulations on passing the exam!

I can't look at a shake weight without laughing since I saw that South Park episode...

I have super oily hair too. I wish I could get away with washing it less often, but I just can't.

  4. Congrats on the test
used to be on swim oil in the bath helps with the skin and not expensive...put more then what it says on bottle

  5. CONGRATS!! So proud of you lady.. LMAO about the practice bike thing, I would have major issues with coordination

  6. Re #1 - awesome, congrats

Re #2 - get some free coach consulting (Here's mine: Jill

Re #5 - Kraft Dinner and Hot Dogs?

Re #8 - "brownie" ... if you don't get it, you'll get it at the next triathlon ... don't worry ... you'll get it

  7. Congartulations. I couldn't bring myself to use the shake weight after seeing the SNL parody of it.

  8. I feel ya on the 57 things...
Congrats on the test! One less thing to worry about.
I respect the tri trainig - those training schedules scare me off, sticking to just running for the time being. :)
I'm betting bbq for dinner tonight!
When my hair get greasy it means I've let my roots grow out too long! :)

  9. Congratulations!

I saw a woman bring a shake weight into the gym the other day to have a trainer try it and it looked like the trainer was feeling some pain :-)

I hate that itchy feeling after swimming. Sometimes I get it from the lake, too and that freaks me out. I know chlorine can make me itchy but what is in the lake??

  10. Ok, I absolutely purchased a Shake Weight for one of my best friends for Christmas this year. Just because it makes me laugh.

    Congrats on your test!

  11. congrats!
ha, i love the shake weight! :)

  12. My hair was always greasy, too. I'm kind of a hippie, so I stopped using shampoo. I used baking soda and vinegar for a while, but got lazy, so now I use a bit of Dr. Bronner's soap once a week. The rest of the days I shower and just scrub my scalp with my fingers.

It doesn't work for everyone, and the name is silly, but google "no poo" and see if it's something that you might be interested in trying.

  13. Yay for passing your exam!

I think you should get yourself a shake weight. Then, use it for a month and report your results. I'm interested in seeing if it really works.

  14. Congrats on the exam!!! That's awesome.

So funny about the shake weight... something about the commercial is just wrong... but I bet it does work! My arms are major wimpy, so they'd probably really burn me!

  15. What I found helpful when training for a 1/2 was always doing bricks as much as possible....Even if you only have an hour, run for 30 minutes and bike for 30 minutes. Do your pool workout and then hop on the bike for a quick 10 miles.

My mom uses that shake weight thing. I remember Ellen showing it on her show and they kinda made fun of it, but I'll take your word and my moms and totally believe that it works.

  16. I use baby powder with some of my elderly patients who can't wash their hair very often. When it starts to get greasy, just shake the powder on your head, rub all over and brush out. It is weird, but they say it works.

  17. Congrats on passing your exam!

As being the excited new owner of the shake weight I can confirm it HURTS LIKE A MOFO.. I was about to die after attempting to do the full minute session. Of course I did this under cover in my garage with no windows..

Which remind me I still need to email the hilarious photos from that night!

You're pretty much awesome!!
