Welcome to our ool…

…notice there is no “P” in it.

At least I hope not, but I am sure there is. I am not that naïve. I know swimmers who talked about peeing in the pool all the time. But that is beside the point. The point is the pool is closed. Closed until the 21st. What the heck.  I went yesterday it was closed. I call this morning and got the bad news it was closed for the rest of the week and weekend. So that leaves me to run and bike only until next Monday, which is ok, especially since I got a totally hawt new hair cut today. Pools are killer on hair.

Today I hit up spin class. I am really liking spin. I know I have said that before but it is awesome. I enjoy feeling the sweat  pour out of my pores and roll down  my face. I could watch it drip off my face and fall down to splat on the bike or the floor. Is that weird. For some reason it had me thinking of Dexter. Do you watch Dexter?

So I only got a few questions from yesterday’s post, but here I go…

Mallory asks:

Good question! PNW stands for Pacific Northwest! I am no expert but as far as I understand it encompasses the Pacific Northwest. Wait, that doesn’t really tell you much. Anyway it is from mid to northern Oregon to probably Canada. Probably more so to parts nearer to the water. So Seattle and  Tacoma certainly PNW.

Well, this is super hard. I love lots of races. So many have very special and sentimental meaning to me.  I love all of the local races up in the Seattle/Tacoma area but my all time favorite race was the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon (recap HERE). Everything about it was magical. I wish I could run that exact race every single weekend.

The Blonde Ponytail says:

Ah the SpaNky pattern. I didn’t decide. I’m sorry. I tried on three pairs today and put them all back. I think I will have to try them on at least 57 more times before I am deceived enough to actually purchase a pair. I’ll keep running and going to spin and swimming (eventually) and those spankies will be just fine.

I tried a tri because for the challenge mainly. And because I was told that once I did one I would be hooked. Someone had told me that once upon a time about running and they were right! So who wouldn’t want to be hooked on multisport? AND the main reason I wanted to do a tri (other than I was in fact a cycling fish in my last life, how did you guess??? My secret is now out of the bag…) I see triathletes as being truly all around fit. They don’t  just run, they cycle and swim too. Running is awesome but I want balance and for me I feel the three sports together bring balance to me and my body.

So there you have it.  Thanks for your questions.

Welp, tomorrow will be a run day and maybe another spin class. I think I may look into becoming a spin instructor. I like it THAT much.

Any of you instructors of some sort of  something? I taught Water Aerobics (or H2Ox or water-X) for three years while in the PNW. I quit when I moved here and my certs are expired now. I could recert but haven't taken the time. I miss my “little old ladies” and I miss the extra workouts.

Now a question for you. We are looking to plan a tropical vacation. Think sun, beach, warm water, snorkeling…the whole 57 yards!  Where have you been that you loved? Or where would you like me to go so that I can report back about how awesome it was? So far we are looking at the US Virgin Islands, St. Croix. I suggested the Sandwich Islands but I think the Hubs mumbled something about that not being a good place….

  1. ok, thats it, im going to a spin class....youve convinced me!

i can tell you where NOT to go. the dominican republic....worst freakin trip of.my.LIFE!!! and it was my honeymoon :(

  2. I absolutely love spinning and was all ready to take the test to be an instructor when I went off the deep end with running! While I was pregnant though the doctor didn't think running was the best idea for me (JERK!) so I went back to spinning every day! I did class right up to the day she was born! I LOVE it! Loud music and kick butt workout!

  3. ARUBA. Seriously. We've been about 3 or 4 times, and my parents are thinking about buying land/building there. Let me know if you need any info whatsoever. :)

I wish I had your passion for tri's. I just don't see myself doing one. I am horrible on a bike. Just, sad. LOL...

PLEAAAAASE let me know when you get up to WA :)

  4. I've been to the Bahamas, St. Maarten, the US Virgin Islands (that's where we got married!) and hopped over to the Britsh Virgin Islands while we were there. They were all awesome. So were Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas. And D has been to the Cayman Islands before we met. He said it was really nice too.

  5. I want to go south again and SOON! We loved Antigua, incase you couldn't tell. :)

Boo to the "ool" being closed but enjoy those run & bike workouts in the mean time, all while rocking your hot new do. (Ummm, pictures please?!?)

  6. I feel like a rockstar having my question posted!! Woohoo! I recently found your blog and I'm LOVING it! What's the new hair like? I have a cut and color appt on Tuesday and I can't wait!!

I'm not an instructor of anything except social skills group. Lol. All of those vacation places sound pleasant. I don't have any suggestions but I look forward to seeing what you choose!!

  7. You are toooooo funny! Love the o-o-l with no peee! ha! Why did you have to move so far away :( I would love to be able to drive to the west side and hang with you!!

Thanks for answering my ?'s! B/c I'm watching the Bachelor, Anguilla looks amazing--go there (w/out Brad)!!

  8. He likes it. (But then again, he's not a runner!) He says the weather is better there than it is here. Guess it was close to 60 yesterday?

He hasn't gone anywhere in the town except to the local red robin, so he cant accurately judge the area. But he's saying that he wouldn't mind getting this billet now. He says he *thinks* I could be happy there.

Sooo....we'll see! Thanks for following up. That was sweet of you.

  9. I love how you're able to take screen shots for your Q & A's. I have one note that allows me to take screen shots but then how do I save them in order to upload the shots? I'm sorry..totally random and unrelated to this post. :)

  10. Ooh fun! Become a spin instructor! I've been told I should be an instructor for like kick boxing or boot camp, but I'm chicken for some reason.

  11. After watching this week's Bachelor I totally would go to Anguilla. It looks stunning there.

  12. 1st Just started reading your blog and love it! I will be a first time Tri girl in July...pretty excited about it!

I've been to Grand Cayman...really nice there! I think any place warm right now, with a palm tree or two would be great!!

Also..What are the benefits of those Spankies?? Did you post about thos b4?

  13. I LOOOOOVE spin!! I am trying to figure out how to keep it up when I am "officially" training for my 1/2. Right now I am trying running a mile before and after class as a little extra running. The mile after spin feels like 15. I totally respect you triathletic people :D

I love the Keys, no passport/customs crap needed, laid back, beautiful, etc. If you want night life can go to Key West, or to the inner keys to just hang/snorkle, etc. It's been WAY too long since I've been...

  14. I use to teach step aerobics. And I Loved it.

I so want to take a spinning class. Looks like fun.

  15. Um I'd love if you were here and taught spin class! You are amazing aren't you in the lovely East Coast, nice beaches warm ocean .. I know the thrill of going away but you are away...
    Miss you friend!

You're pretty much awesome!!
