Ok, so yesterday while waiting for MY turn to run I did some house cleaning, TV watching with LB AND I tried to take a picture of that pesky little Cardinal. Every time I got my camera out he would fly away. Who knows though, either he is really a chicken or it could have had something to do with Batman hanging around. You decide…
I was able to head out for my 11 mile solo run around noon. It was a beautiful day for running: 65 degrees, overcast and a bit windy but not bad. I decided to keep it at a slower pace, at least to begin. I have a BAD problem heading out too fast and then crashing. I ended up holding a good 9:34 min/mile pace. I am happy with that. I’m not sure what my goal will be for my upcoming half. Maybe sub 2, maybe not. I just don’t have the speed anymore.
I ventured out of my safe neighborhood. Call it a wild hair but I don’t know what possessed me to do so…I hit up the 6 mile loop and it was better (in some ways) than running my neighborhood 2+ times and our next neighborhood over 2+ times.
Cars were inconsiderate and jerks as always. Two cars crossed the center lane into the oncoming lane to give me a wide breadth, so not to knock my shoulder off with their side mirrors. Of course one was a mom in a mini van and guess what? She had a 26.2 sticker on the back!! That’s what I’m talking about!! She must know what it’s like! The second car to give me a break was a lawn service van pulling a trailer with equipment. Thanks buddy! All the other cars and trucks were jerks and almost killed me. I have a plan for next weekend….check back to see what I’ve got up my proverbial sleeve for next weekend’s long run.
Today’s 35 mile bike ride is not going to happen. Why? This is why:
So it looks like I will be on this later today:
What will you be doing today? I will be assembling the trampoline later AND I’m contemplating putting in a garden-all depending on this rain. Too much to do and too little time!
Wow that is some RAIN you must feel like you are home again... Good luck on the trainer.. I recommend the Proposal or any Ryan Reynolds movie really...
ReplyDeletethanks for the linky love I was SUPER Excited to see how close you were. KEEP going Cancer sucks!!
The "Batman" pics are funny! I thought...hey, I remember when I was Batman or Superman.
ReplyDelete...Mike
That's why you have your mountain bike...
ReplyDeletenice run yesterday! I'm 99% sure I'm going to sign up for the rnr half in June.
ReplyDeleteyay for meeting your goal! I was going to donate more so that I could be the one to push you over, but it wasn't in the budget. Mel can thank me for setting her up to get you to 100%
ReplyDeleteso love the pictures, btw ...
Great job on the 11! I had to postpone my 10 until today. That rain you're getting today? Yeah, that's why I didn't run yesterday!
ReplyDeleteSo I went to Lowe's today and picked up some stuff for my "garden." I'm going very low key this first time. I bought some planters and the stuff to do cucumbers and strawberries today. (One pint of strawberries at Kroger today was $4.99!!! And that's not even for the organic ones! Bet your ass I'm planting some strawberries this year...) Oh, and I bought the tomato seeds, but apparently it will be a while on those. The instructions said to start them inside for 6-8 weeks before transplanting them outside. Guess I should have looked into this a couple of months ago!
Congrats on the fantastic fundraising!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd YAY for finding a tolerable alternate running route!!
Great job on your fundraising! Isn't it amazing how giving people are??!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job!
Congrats on meeting your goal!
ReplyDeleteMuch congrats on meeting your goal!! And how awesome- great YOU met the goal, great OTHERS supported you and GREAT for thos who will benefit from the funds! :)
ReplyDeleteGood job reaching your goal!! What kind of bike trainer do you have? I am looking into getting one and I am trying to find out more about them.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Mel didn't put you at 1250.33?!! :) Mel and her 3's!! :) CONGRATS on making your goal with plenty-o-time!
ReplyDeleteSorry that it is pissing on you today :( Sometimes I wanna carry around eggs and fire them at inconsiderate drivers!! How annoying and dangerous!!
Congrats on meeting your goal! And I'm sorry to hear about the inconsiderate drivers. Even when I go running in the park, cars entering and exiting try to run me down it seems. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! I am with you...I always start out too fast!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat weather for running. Good for you - good run.
ReplyDeleteAs for that cardinal - they are little spooks. Scared of everything. But aren't they so pretty? Espec. the bright red males.
I couldn't appreciate more the people who are considerate of runners, bikers, walkers, or anyone on the side of the road. I even had one guy stop and hold up traffic until the oncoming traffic had a pause so he could pull around me. So thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteBut every person who continues driving as normal when there is no oncoming traffic whatsoever, I wish I could slap each and every one of them.
