Do You Believe in Magic?

Yesterday was magical!

Ok, slight exaggeration but seriously, I got to run AND swim!!  I expected a BIG FAT ZERO  on my plan but the day turned out just right!! I finished up with  my morning client a little early and headed to gym for a 5 mile tempo run. I cannot for the life of me do tempos outside, I wish I could because it was an absolute BE-YOU-TEEE-FUL day for an outside run. I didn’t have my Garmin or else I may have just gone for a good ole 5 miler. But treadmill tempo run it was. It was good. I started out running my first mile at 9:22 then increased the speed every quarter mile until I hit four miles, then I slowed it down. I finished running my 5 miles at 45:03 and then walked an extra .33 of a mile, just because.

I took a Beta Bath (a lame attempt to wash off the sweaty parts without actually showering, term stolen from my mom who has used it since college-the Beta girls-at HER school- were stinky apparently) and headed out for work again. When I finished up my afternoon clients an hour and a half earlier than expected I called to pool-YEP!! I could come swim. They have the afternoon blocked off for Unit Training. Some of the units need to train in the pool. Like my hubby is a Combat Diver-ever watch the discovery Channel? Yeah,  the school they go to in Key West FL is featured on the show Surviving the Cut, it’s pretty hard core and serious.  Anyway, there was a group of guys training but there was a lap lane open and it was ALL MINE! I swam and swam and loved it! There are high windows in the pool area and the sun light was beaming in, illuminating the water, it was warm (and still cozy) and felt like swimming outside, almost. It was bright and beautiful. I think pools are beautiful, when the water is clear. Without 1,000 people in the pool it was calm and crystal clear. I swam 1,250 yds total- 200 yd warm up/8x100 yd swim sprints (have no idea what to really call them)/150 yd cool down.

Last night my legs were yelping. My calves were a little tight and I was craving my Compression Socks! Has that ever happened to you? Jamie from CEP Compression sent me a pair to try out a few weeks ago and at first I didn’t really notice anything. But the more I wear them the more I realized they are AMAZING!!! Full review coming soon, but in the mean time you can check out their site HERE

And here I am sporting them:

Yeah, where’s my cape?

42.5 mile bike ride anyone? Or eat dirt? It’s all good in CEP socks!

Well, have you had any magical days lately? I love it when things just fall into place!

  2. Shhhh! Don't tell my boss, I'm at work reading your blog. Ok, so about 4 months ago I bought a pair of compression socks, I think mine are Scusi or something like a word that sounds like "scuzzy", remember using that word in school? HAHAHAHA! Anyway, I love mine and I love wearing them in the house. I've even slept in them!

I'm waiting for my magical day to come. I'm going to try running again on Sat! On land!! 7 miles! Please let it be so!

  13. It wasn't magical, but the other day I got out of work an hour earlier than expected much like you and was able to make it to the gym for the workout I had sort of scratched off the schedule earlier that day.

It really IS nice when things just fall into place for you.
